金融观察：汇丰CEO纪勤将常驻香港

HSBC signalled on Friday* its determination to expand in China and across Asia by moving Michael Geoghegan, its chief executive, from London to be based full-time in Hong Kong.
汇丰银行(HSBC)周五表示，其首席执行官纪勤(Michael Geoghegan)的主要办公室将从伦敦迁至香港，此举表明了该银行在中国和亚洲地区扩张的决心。

The move – which Stephen Green, executive chairman, told the Financial Times was “symbolic and practical” – is also aimed at cementing HSBC's position as the biggest foreign bank in the fast-growing Chinese market.
汇丰执行主席葛霖(Stephen Green)向英国《金融时报》表示，这一“既有象征意义也有实际意义”的举动，目的也在于巩固汇丰在迅速增长的中国市场上最大外资银行的地位。

“Asia and China are the centre of gravity of the world and of our business,” Mr Green said.

Hong Kong and China accounted for 40 per cent of HSBC pre-tax profits in the first half of the year and analysts predict this could reach 50 per cent in the next five to 10 years.

“China is our number one priority,” Mr Geoghegan said in Hong Kong after sealing the reshuffle at a board meeting, its first in the city for three years.
